Next week we’ll be visiting our Scottish photographer friends and attending the Photovision roadshow at Royal Highland Centre, MacRobert Pavilion, Ingliston, Edinburgh EH28 8NB.

Focus on Imaging 2012 is Europe’s biggest annual imaging show and is taking place 4 – 7 March 2012 (10am – 6pm Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. 10am – 5pm Wednesday)

Before you close your business, make sure no-one can ruin your retirement. We normally recommend twelve months cover as a minimum and six years as the ideal. Cover bought for longer spells isn’t that common but it’s a growing area for us. The risk of claims usually tails off with time unless you have a Groomzilla on your books! The recent case of a British couple who paid almost £1,000 for wedding photography by an alleged ‘professional’ highlights why brides should be checking YOUR credentials.

The ‘photographer’ provided blurred images of guests, empty seats and a picture of the bride with her head cut off.

If you’re a wedding photographer, make sure you put your potential clients’ minds at ease by providing them with references and evidence of your InFocus policy.

 The police recently expressed their gratitude to professional photographers for the part they played in recording the serious crime that took place during the riots. However, at times police officers have been accused of overstepping the mark or failing to understand our laws regarding privacy and making images available to the public. It’s often a tricky relationship so photographer’s magazine ePhotozine invited our director Peter Stevenson to explain more.

The Daily Mail this week admitted it had made an error by publishing a photographer’s Twitter photos without permission.  Amateur Photographer Magazine discusses the issue and speaks to the photographer at the centre of the case.
