There are more young photographers keen to turn pro than ever before. As a result of this, we are often approached by students, keen to set up their own business and be a photographer full time.   If you’re planning to do this, what professional photographers insurance do you need?

The first thing to say is that no matter what level you’re at, you need insurance.  Accidents and mistakes happen to everyone.  You may not need the full works, but a level of insurance cover is an absolute necessity.  If you’ve invested in a lot of equipment to get your business underway, it’s vital you protect it whilst at the same time, making sure you’re not paying for any cover you don’t need.   Always get bespoke photographers insurance quote from a professional provider who specialises in photography.

You’ll probably need a basic package if you’re starting out for the first time.   Add up all your equipment and make sure your policy covers you for replacing everything.  If you’re going to have anyone working for you or even a student shadowing you, you’ll need employers liability cover.  If you haven’t got this and they had an accident at work, you’d be liable.

Public liability is another part of the package that must be carefully considered.  If someone is hurt or injured by your actions, for example, if you directed them into a position and they fell and hurt themselves, then you have to have cover in place,
