Following our latest blog which highlighted the dying trend of printing off pictures, we stumbled across some research by Samsung which has been all over the news this morning. The study carried out by the electronics giant found that a mere 25% of pictures end up in traditional albums and millions are never even downloaded, forever lost on memory chips and old electronics.

As professionals in the photography industry, this news comes as a great shame. Sharing photos online is great for a variety of reasons, but its threat to print photography is unnerving. Two thirds of Britain now catalogue their images on computers, smartphones or tablets.

Surprisingly (or not!) one in five of us take photos purely to share via social media, with over half stating that they share their shots in under a week. In addition, ‘selfies’ – where the photographer captures an image of themselves – account for 30 per cent of pictures taken by those aged 18-24. That’s some happy snapping!
