Here at InFocus, we see examples of professional photography every day and some are incredibly breath-taking and quite rightly referred to as pieces of artwork.  Indeed, the National Gallery recently recognised a photograph as a piece of art as it placed the piece alongside an oil painting by Constable.  The photograph featuring skies and fields, has made many visitors to the gallery do a double take as it looks so much like a painting.

The piece forms part of the Seduced by Art exhibition.   Many people disagree with the placing of photographs alongside works of art feeling that painting is a very different skill to that of using a camera to produce a photograph.  My feeling is that both can produce fantastic, dramatic results and are artworks in their own right.    If you‘re a professional photographer that produces stunning images, make sure you’re camera equipment is insured so you can continue to work if the worst happens.  It’s probably a lot cheaper than you think to be covered for all eventualities.
