We’ve all seen the news coverage of the flag protests in Belfast and hope to see the situation resolved in the very near future.

Lots of professional photographers are working in the midst of the protests, some in dangerous environments.  One such press photographer who travelled to Belfast to cover the event lost camera equipment worth £8,500 when it was stolen by a man armed with a knife.

The professional photographer is from Manchester and is now unsure as to whether he’ll be able to replace his gear which means that his career is in jeopardy. We hope the police manage to locate the equipment and he gets everything back that was stolen.

If you are dependent on your camera equipment for your livelihood, make sure you have a professional photographer insurance policy in place to cover you if the worst happens.  If you have valuable photographic equipment that you rely on to carry out your job, do regular audits to add up exactly how much everything is worth and what it would cost you to replace your items if they were lost or stolen.  Make sure you keep your insurance provider informed of everything you have so that if the worst happens, you’ll be able to replace everything and your work schedule can continue.
