We’ve written lots in the past on photographer’s concerns about their photographs being taken without their permission and used on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.

One photographer has done something about it by designing an App which watermarks photos on the iPhone.  John McHugh decided to take action after being frustrated by people sharing his images online without giving a credit.  McHugh worked with a developer produce the App.

If you want to find out more you can buy Marksta from the App Store.

It’s good to see a professional photographer fighting back and doing his best to combat the problem of people sharing images online.   With millions of photographs online, many people still don’t realise they’re doing anything wrong by posting and sharing.   It’s important that those in the industry do all they can to spread the message that a photograph is the property of the photographer and is subject to copyright rules.  If you’re a photographers that is acting to prevent people taking your images and replicating online, we’d love to hear what you‘re doing.
