It has recently been reported that on a trip to Italy, Golf pro Tiger Woods had his front tooth knocked out by an over-eager videographer.

The golfer arrived at the resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo to surprise his girlfriend Lindsey Vonn, who had just taken a record breaking 63rd World Cup Alpine ski title. The former world no.1 revealed the gap in his tooth as he congratulated the skier.

After much speculation about the missing tooth, it turned out that it had been knocked out by a video camera in a media scramble after the event.

Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg explained: ‘During a crush of photographers at the awards’ podium at the World Cup event in Italy, a media member with a shoulder-mounted video camera pushed and surged towards the stage, turned and hit Tiger Woods in the mouth and knocked out his tooth.

Public Liability Insurance

It’s always better to learn from the lessons of others.

In this case it’s hard to imagine Tiger suffering a loss of earnings although there will no doubt be an expensive dental bill to pick up.

Someone whose teeth and smile were fundamentally important to their job might also suffer a loss of earnings, which they would no doubt seek to recover from the Videographer.

For this reason, public liability insurance is essential for professional photographers and videographers.

There is always potential for an accident and you need to be able to focus on running your business with the peace of mind that if anything were to go wrong you are covered.

It is vital that you arrange cover with the right insurer, so you can rest in the knowledge that any problems will be dealt with quickly and efficiently.

Public liability cover from Infocus Insurance is one of the many types of insurance available for Photographers and Videographers.
