Amateur turns professional photographer after photos spotted

Amateur photographer Paul Melling, based in Preston, will be showcasing his work in a calendar, after his striking photos were spotted on Flickr – the photo sharing website.  As a result of these photographs, he was asked to take photos of Preston for a professional calendar to be sold across the city.

Although Paul has been taking photos all his life he has never regarded himself as a professional, instead taking the pictures for pleasure.  However, this could now be the springboard for a new career should Paul want it.

The story demonstrates the increasing importance of social networking sites which can be a fantastic opportunity for photographers to get their work out to a wide audience and potentially increase sales and bookings.  Although time consuming to get to grips with, many of the professional photographers we’ve worked with have found that social media has had a huge impact on their business.  If you do make the leap into the world of professional photography, don’t forget to get a cheap photographers insurance package.  Give us a call on 0844 811 8056.
